The Challenge
TurboTax needed a single activation that could work equally well at Web Summit and the ARC Hoops celebrity basketball tournament while reinforcing its partnership with the Toronto Raptors. The experience needed to make a complex, low-interest category feel approachable, engaging and memorable.

The Insight
For many people, tax season still feels like a mountain of paperwork, receipts and manual effort. TurboTax experts have fundamentally changed that experience, but "easier taxes" is easier to say than to demonstrate. People understand the difference more clearly when they can physically experience it.

The Idea
What if we turned the old way of doing taxes into a basketball challenge? Participants shot receipt-inspired basketballs into wastebaskets, shredders and bankers' boxes inside a deliberately dreary tax office environment. The experience brought TurboTax's "Now This Is Taxes" platform to life while creating an activation that felt equally at home at a tech conference or on the basketball court.
